The birds and birding on Monhegan Island - one of my favorite places on the planet - is being put at risk from an ill-conceived, poorly-placed, and deceptively-promoted industrial wind power project. We are not opposed to wind power - it can be done well in the right place - but we are opposed to putting lighted turbine towers in the path of some of the densest concentrations of birds in the state. We've been working with a community organization to provide information and express our concerns about the impact of the project, and we are supporting their new legal effort. Please take a look at my recent blog and consider offering some support - or at the very least, understanding the issue for when we need another round of letters, advocacy, or support. Many thanks!
